Sleeves, Links, and Woodbox Beats

I’m often amazed at what’s out there, in the heart, on the sleeve, and on-line. Often times, these worlds and feelings collide, and I suppose blogs, videos, links, and things, can all come together and give you a better sense of yourself, your work, and your potential. It’s the one reason I occasionally search for opinions on what I’m doing (or trying to do) and if I’m succeeding (or failing) at it.

Here are some links to some rather interesting thoughts and opinions on my work. It’s good, it’s bad, and it’s all revealing. Of course, let me know what you think:

Here’s an interview with Family Business Entertainment, an on-line magazine for young entrepreneurs.  It’s a great site full of great ideas for taking more control of your work, career, and life:

And for all my friends in Nashville (I’m a Visiting Associate Professor of Composition at Vanderbilt University’s Blair School of Music), here’s a very special announcement on a “lunchbox” presentation I’ll be doing on October 15 at TPAC’s Polk Theater.  Please come out if you can, and enjoy some good food and an even better conversation—at least, I hope the food will be good—ha!  But seriously, it’s all for a performance of Darwin’s Meditation for the People of Lincoln, my 90-minute oratorio on the shared-birthdays, writings, and letters of Charles Darwin and Abraham Lincoln:

Here’s a preview of a new track from my next Thirsty Ear Release, tentatively titled Woodbox Beats and Balladry. This is an excerpt from Sonata For Violin & Turntables, a work jointly composed by me and Elan Vytal, aka DJ Scientific.  It’s violin-love and madness and a good way to start (or end) your day.

I hope you dig it.
